Privacy Policy
CookVerse is a cooking app operated by Food Tales LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we use Google account data when you tap Continue with Google.
Who this applies to
People who open CookVerse on the web or in the iOS / Android apps, including Friends & Family testers.
Information we collect
- Account: name, email, phone number, profile photo, and a CookVerse user id from Firebase Authentication. Sign-in options include Google, Apple, email + password, and SMS one-time codes.
- Google account (when you choose Google): basic identity (
openid, email, profile). CookVerse also requestshttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/documentsandhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.fileso you can export a CookVerse document into a Google Doc that the app creates. We do not ask for access to your entire Drive. - Cooking activity: saved recipes, menus, chef handle, diet preferences, and similar in-app choices. Some of this stays in your browser (local storage) so you remain on the same page after a refresh.
- Payments: if you start CookVerse+ checkout, Stripe processes the card. We store subscription status and Stripe customer / subscription ids — not full card numbers.
- Shopping handoff: if you shop a recipe, we send ingredient names and amounts to Instacart to open their cart. That purchase happens on Instacart, not CookVerse.
- AI menus: prompts and generated menus are sent to Google Gemini so we can build Today’s Menu, Week’s Menu, and Chef Studio results. Do not put secrets in those prompts.
YouTube videos
CookVerse uses YouTube API Services to show cooking videos for recipes. By watching videos in CookVerse you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s use of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- What we use: we search YouTube for a public, embeddable video that matches each dish, and we periodically re-check that the video is still available. We store only public video information — the video id, title and channel name — with the recipe.
- What we do not do: CookVerse does not ask you to connect your YouTube or Google account to YouTube, and does not access, store or share any of your YouTube account data.
- The video player: videos play in YouTube’s official embedded player inside CookVerse. YouTube (Google) may collect information such as playback activity and use cookies or similar technologies on your device when you play a video, as described in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Deletion and revocation: because we do not store YouTube data about you, there is nothing YouTube-related to delete from your CookVerse account. You can review or revoke any app’s access to your Google account at Google security settings, and delete your CookVerse account at any time (see below).
How we use Google user data
Google identity is used only to create or sign in to your CookVerse account. Google Docs and Drive (files created by CookVerse) are used only to create or update an export you asked for. We do not sell Google user data, use it for ads, or share it with other apps except the processors below that run CookVerse.
Who we share data with
- Google / Firebase: authentication, hosting, Gemini AI, and (if you export) Docs / Drive.
- Stripe: CookVerse+ checkout and subscription state.
- Supabase: app data such as catalogues, handles, and entitlements.
- Instacart: only the ingredient list you choose to shop.
- Food Tales: recipe catalogue content shown in CookVerse.
- YouTube (Google): cooking videos played in YouTube’s embedded player (see YouTube videos above).
We do not sell personal information.
Cookies and local storage
CookVerse stores your signed-in session and last page (cookverse_session_user, cookverse_active_tab) on your device so a reload does not send you back to sign-in. You can clear this by signing out or clearing site data.
How long we keep it
Account and menu data stay until you delete the account in the app or on the web. Google access tokens for Docs export are short-lived. Stripe keeps payment records as required by law.
Your choices
- Use email, phone, or Apple instead of Google.

CookVerse is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.
